[triangle]Associate in Science Degree - (60 Credits)

Program Description
Teamwork, project management and presentation skills are at the core of the eBusiness program, and are present in each of the nine eBusiness classes required for an eBusiness AS degree at Kapi’olani Community College (KCC).

The primary objective of the eBusiness program is to prepare community college students to enter the workforce upon graduation with the skills needed to start a promising business career. The business communities in Honolulu, as well as Silicon Valley, have identified the eBusiness skills as “promotable” skills that give employees and potential employees the flexibility and mobility needed to move both laterally and vertically in a company and across industries. During the formation and implementation of KCC’s eBusiness Program, these skills frequently have been termed as “MBA skills” by business leaders and education administrators who work with the eBusiness student teams.

Given its core skill sets, the eBusiness curriculum incorporates project-driven (as opposed to text-driven) courses with each eBusiness class devoted to a single semester-long project for each team consisting of five to fifteen students per team depending on the complexity of the project; real-life projects with real-life consequences and (when needed) real-life budgets are chosen. Project selection may be generated from the students or assigned by the instructor; teams are randomly selected in the beginning classes and specifically assigned as the students become more experienced with teamwork and project management. Some projects may even be formed with real businesses in the community to produce a realistic work environment as opposed to a hypothetical situation from a book. Given real situations and real problems, the Ebusiness program will better prepare students to enter and keep up with the busy business world of today.
